Michael J. Dekleva

Michael J. Dekleva graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1985 with a degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing.  He received his J.D., cum laude, from the University of New Mexico School of Law in 1992, where he was nominated to the Order of the Coif and was co-recipient of the Jerrold L. Walden Memorial award. Mr. Dekleva also served as a member and survey editor for the New Mexico Law Review.

After receiving his J.D., Mr. Dekleva served for two years as Staff Law Clerk for The Honorable Joseph F. Baca, New Mexico Supreme Court Justice, from 1992-94. Mr. Dekleva, who started with Madison and Mroz, P.A. in 1994, has been a shareholder, officer and director of the firm since January 2000, and is licensed to practice in the state and federal courts of New Mexico and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Tenth Circuits.

Mr. Dekleva is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and his practice centers on medical and legal malpractice defense, general civil defense, insurance coverage, and employment law. Mr. Dekleva has considerable experience representing and defending New Mexico physicians and hospitals in medical negligence claims, in litigation, at trial, and before the New Mexico Appellate Courts.
